Applying strapping without damaging cartons
Position the strap on a stable load and use the tool according to its instructions. Add suitable corner protection where the strap could cut into cartons or products. Apply controlled tension and inspect each joint. Keep hands clear of pinch points and use appropriate protection when cutting tensioned strap. Check the load after handling.
Arrange the goods so the strap bears on supported areas. Place protective corners according to the packing instruction and keep them in position during tensioning. Do not let the band bridge an unsupported opening where it could distort the pack.
Use the specified tool and joining method, following its operating instructions. Check that the band lies in the intended position and that the joint is completed consistently. Remove and replace a visibly faulty joint using the approved procedure.
Inspect the pack after its first movement and again if the contents can settle during storage. Look for slipped protection, loose bands or damaged cartons. Follow site instructions for cutting and disposal so loose strap does not become a handling obstruction.
