Combining coloured wrapping with readable labels

Apply a consistent wrapping pattern and ensure transport labels remain visible. Where a label must be read through film, test barcode scanning on the finished load; otherwise place it appropriately on the outer wrap. Record the colour rule in the warehouse instructions and avoid using colour as the only means of identifying hazardous or regulated goods.

Prepare the label position before starting the wrap. Leave inspection markings accessible and avoid placing critical information where multiple folds or creases will obscure it. Check the finished pack using the scanner and lighting used at dispatch.

When applying an outer label, check that it remains attached to the finished film surface during normal handling. Keep a label reference in the packing instruction. Do not assume a label approved on cardboard behaves identically on film.

At dispatch, compare the colour with the written shipment reference. If the two disagree, resolve the identity before loading. Record changes to the colour system and remove outdated instructions from packing stations to avoid parallel meanings.
