Troubleshooting breaks in high-strength stretch film
If film breaks, identify whether failure begins at a sharp load edge, the film roll, or the machine rollers. Check threading, damaged cores and tension before increasing film thickness. Protect exposed corners where appropriate and reduce excessive tension according to the machine instructions. Keep a sample and the batch number so the team can distinguish a handling problem from a material issue.
Note when the break occurs. A break as the roll starts may indicate a damaged outer layer or an abrupt pull; repeated breaks at one load position call for closer inspection of that corner or projection.
Examine the film path with the equipment stopped according to its instructions. Look for contamination, rough contact surfaces and a roll that does not rotate freely. Do not reach into moving rollers to investigate a fault.
Test one correction at a time and retain both failed and successful samples. Report the roll reference, failure location, equipment settings and photographs to the supplier. This creates a useful fault record instead of an unsupported conclusion about thickness.
Confirm your specification
Specify width, thickness, roll length or net material weight, core size, colour, packing, quantity and destination. Final dimensions and performance are confirmed by the sample and order.
Product details are based on the GUDE catalogue and supplied photographs; operating guidance is general and must be verified on your equipment.
