Inflating and checking an air column package
Inflate with the method and settings approved for the supplied product. Inspect the pack for damaged chambers and confirm that it holds the goods as intended. Avoid excessive inflation and sharp contact points. Insert the protected product in an appropriate carton and check movement before completing representative handling tests.
Prepare a clean packing surface and keep sharp tools away from uninflated material. Confirm the format and inflation equipment against the work instruction. Check the supplier’s required setup before starting rather than borrowing settings from a different protective pack.
After inflation, inspect the areas that will contact the product and check for visible chamber damage. Position the item in the agreed orientation without forcing a projection against the film. Replace a damaged pack rather than hiding the defect inside the carton.
Close the carton using the approved method and check for movement of the protected item. Inspect sample packs during production, especially after a change of format or product. Record recurring chamber damage so the handling step causing it can be corrected.
